  1. If you're there, they are not thinking you are trying to scam the system.  They work from a solid knowledge base and experience.  They may even appreciate you expressing your concerns, which gives them further insight into how you are doing and how you feel.

It would be unprofessional to generalize in that profession because each person experiences and deals with issues in an individual way.

  2. Have you given them a reason to think that way?

They are human beings - just like you.

  3. They don't think any more or less of you than they do the next patient.  They are trained professionals.  If you were fakin they would know it.

  4. Most people in that profession get in the profession because they want to help people.  I wouldn't assume they think you're trying to cheat the system or fake anything.  They are there to help you help yourself.

  5. I work for a psychiatrist and can tell you that they really do care about their patients.  The doctor or therapists wouldn't have spent the time and money in school if they didn't.  Though you do come across a person or two that really do try to "scam the system" (say, for disability benefits), they are pretty easily spotted.  it's pretty hard to fake a mental illness and pull one over on doctors.  they've seen it all over the years of their practice.

not everyone is out to get you.  people really do care.
