writing an essay and i need to know what greenhouse gases have to do with global warming because i forgot.

  1. greenhouse gases act as a blanket around the earth, keeping the heat of the sun from leaking out to space.  actually, we need greenhouse gases or else the earth would cool down too much without them, and turn into a giant snowball.  So, greenhouse gases are not bad, unless there is too much.  Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas.  so the more of that gas in the atmosphere, the warmer the planet is likely to get.  thing is, we make a LOT of carbon dioxide by burning oil, gasoline, and natural gas. so human activity is whats warming up the globe.
