What do high school soccer coaches expect from you?

im going into 9th grade, and i really want to make the team. im not THAT good but im not that bad. just in the middle. is there a particular thing that they expect? or what should i practice?

  1. be a team player, have the endurance to not get tired during the tryouts (the coaches at my school prefer their players to be in cross country), and try your hardest.


  2. Speed is important to get to the football when they pass it to you. After that, work on your dribbling,  Then conditioning.  Be aware of your opponents and teammates when you're on the football pitch

  3. It may sound a little stupid or trivial, but make sure that you practice your dribbling and passing so that you can do it effortlessly. You shouldn't have to look at your feet and should be able to take only a second to look up, find an opening and pass. I was on the soccer team in the 9th, 10th and 11th grade when i went to highschool. Coaches really could care less about the fancy tricks and ability to score if you can't work as one with the team and maintain control of the ball.
