  1. If you're coming to the Midwest, which is where I am,  be aware that it can be quite hot and humid this time of year. Every once in a while we'll have a freaky cold day. Bring mostly summer clothing, sunscreen, bug spray, and 1 "cold" outfit per person. It really depends on what you'll be doing when you are here.

  2. clothing

    some food

    books to read

    children stuff

    first aid kit(just in case)

    shoes

the usual stuff u use everyday

    have fun....have a safe trip:)

  3. Lift the flap books are good.   Those magnetic doodles too.Scratch and sniff stickers can be interesting too.  Keep in mind, sometimes the most entertaining thing can be you.  Play something like "Im thinking of an animal" then make animal sounds and make the 2 year old guess.

Make sure your shoes too our easy slip on and off for security, you have enough to worry about.  And check out the airlines site, for what you can and cant bring for liquids on the planes.  Some make exceptions for babies, but be prepared if not.

  4. enough earplugs for every passenger on that flight.

  5. I would suggest lots of snacks and juice for the 2 year old. I would also suggest bringing along a new toy that the child has never played with so it's something new. If the child has a hard time sitting still it sometimes help to take along the car seat so they are more confined. however if you would rather the child have room to be up moving when the seat belt sign is off I wouldn't take it with you. If you do take it they will let you board earlier however I would suggest one parent go on first and put the seat(s) on before you board with the kids. I would board at last call so the 2 year old has time to run and play since it's going to be such a long flight. As far as the 8.5 month goes I would try to avoid a nap if at all possible before the flight so that he/she will hopefully sleep through the flight. I would also suggest having a bottle ready during take off to help with the ears popping. If you feel comfortable I would give the 2 year old a small small piece of gum or candy for the child to chew on to help avoid the ears popping during take off/landing also. Also a portable dvd player was helpful when we traveled. Hope this helps.
