Question:

What do i change my ip too?

Is it possible i could mess my internet up by changing my ip it always says my submask or something is not in the same code as ip so i can click ok or no so far i clicked no cuz i'm worried i might s***w something up. is there anything i could possibly be messing up? Please help me!

  1. If you have only 1 computer on your connection, call your provider's tech support and they'll talk you through setting up the IP, Gateway and DNS addresses and your subnet mask.  (They're the only ones who know the correct settings - it's their network.)

    If you have more than 1 computer (you're using a router), just set all of them to automatically get their IP address - they'll also automatically get all the other values.  Tech support can help you with this too, if you need help.  (The subnet mask is almost always 255.255.255.0 - but it could be different if you don't have a router.)


  2. Sometimes, routers will change their IP address from time to time. My IP address has changed over 5 times in the past month and i have done nothing to enforce a change. If you want to, press yes. It is relatively easy to adjust your IP back to default settings from the router.
