  1. Oh my, I spent hundreds of dollars in food, beverages, treat bags, decorations, games, fancy cake, 50 people, lots of stress, on and on.  My daughter slept through the party, and when she woke up we did the cake, and she was NOT happy!

Lesson learned - a small family dinner and cake at home is the best plan!

  2. a small party at your local sport center or soft play the plus with this is that they can arrange food/bouncy castle/tidying up for you and it saves the stress of kids running around your house and trashing the place. There are lots of party places these days that arrange everything for you but some of them can be expensive it just depends on your budget

i had the local sports center and bouncy castle my friends and family all chipped in with sanis/sausage rolls, cakes etc it was gr8 and i had a lazytown theme but princes and princesses would be good for that age

  3. just don't overdo.  at that age, the party is more for the adults than the child.  she doesn't understand why there's a party.  don't invite a lot of people or plan anything elaborate.  too much excitement for a 1 yo can ruin everyone's party.  they tend to get overstimulated and fussy.  what's her favorite cartoon or tv character?  plan the theme around that, but keep it low key.

  4. There are lots of themes you can do.  You can do the one year theme, sesame street, winnie the pooh, princess.  For my son's one year we did winnie the pooh and they have a bunch of stuff online you can buy like streamers, table centerpieces, cake pan, etc.

  5. throw a birthday party invite friends, family an, their kids maybe have a clown or disney character make balloon animals for the older kids

  6. invite some close friends, bake a yummy cake and play whatever games she likes best.

  7. DON'T SPEND TOO MUCH MONEY!!!!!!

We as parents get so excited about the first birthday and the child doesn't remember anything or even understand what's on. Keep is simple and small. Make the day special but don't break your pockets!

  8. Lost of colors and lots of attention

  9. for my first son's first birthday party i wanted to a huge celebration, we had two cakes ( one was small and just for him) and i had lots of decorations, i thought it was going to be great. I was wrong, it turned out that with all the excitement he was more scared than anything, he cried most of the day and didn't really know what to make of it all. Don't invite anyone your daughter doesn't know that well and the biggest thing to do is remember that she won't remember. Just have a good time with her and celebrate with all the love in your heart. Go by your daughter's natural disposition. If she likes a lot of excitment go for it, if not don't stress. Makes it colorful and exciting for her, balloons on the floor, maybe you can decorate for the party by using toys as decorations, small cardboard boxes painted to look like blocks. Have fun!
