What do i do if a VIN# doesnt match the car I am being shown pictures of?

I am buying a 2007 WRX STI LTD "supposedly" and the pictures matched up to what he is selling but the vin does not match up, when i ran the carfax report it came up as a WRX TR which is definitly the same car what should I do? He is running the car through an EBAY trust account but I really do not want to be "had".

then you don't buy it.  something is "off".  have you actually SEEN the car in person?  test drove it?  had a mechanic look at it?  if not, then you don't buy it.

If he is selling through an "ebay trust account"....it is a SCAM. There is no such thing. Do not deal with this person. You will only lose your money if you do. They have no car for sale and only want to rip you off.

The first thing you should do is stop corresponding with this scammer.  this scam gets posted in here a half-dozen times a day

the buyer is overseas or in dire straits.  Needs to sell car right away.  Selling lower than market value.  Set up an account with eBay, yahoo, or worldpay (all are bogus accounts).  You send a deposit, they ship the car.  Seller is paying for shipping.  You have 5 days to look the car over before sending the rest of the $.  If you are not happy, you can refuse it and get all your $ back.  Plus, the seller pays for return shipping.

Just find a car in your city that you can see, touch, smell, feel and drive before losing your hard earned money!

That's a SCAM . Ebay has no trust accounts and does not hold ,pay or distribute funds of any kind.They car is probably not even his or it doesn't exist. My guess is hes a soldier,doctor etc and car is in a different state or country than he is and cant keep or register it. The price is probably below market value. This is a known SCAM on Ebay, Craigslist Etc. He doesn't even own the car he just made it up so he can steal your money.Run don't walk away from this deal ,you will lose your money and no way to get it back...........UJN

dont buy it if its not right dont do it especially of u kno its not right that would just be stupid just tell him the car model he is telling u doesnt match up with ur car fax report so u are not interested
