i plugged in my heater.. but it turned off... so i took it out and tried it in a different power point and it still didn't work

so i took the heater back into my room and plugged it back in.. but then something popped and all the electricity got cut off

(i think there was a too much power because theres like 8 electrical appliances coming from the one outlet)

i switched the electrical thing back on to bring back the power... but two power points in the house dont work... im not sure what to do - should i call for an electrician??

  1. Hello Squinty:

Check the wall outlets to see if you have a GFI plug. This is an outlet that has current protection built in. It will have two buttons; one for "TEST" and the other for "RESET." If you find this plug, push the Test button, then the Reset button.

If you do not have GFI plugs, go to the load center (circuit breaker panel or fuse box) and check each of the breakers. Flip them off then on to reset the circuits. If you have fuses, turn off the panel, pull each fuse and test.

If you still have no power after this, contact a licensed electrician, as you may have a melted wire in your outlet.
