What do i do if i was involved in a hit and run with my cousins car?

I was backing out in a shopping area and panicked so i fled. There were no damages but there was a report filed and i do not know what to do! Can i take care of it for a cheap price?

  1. By law you do not have to give any insurance details to the other party, however you are breaking the law if you are driving whilst uninsured in that particular vehicle.

    You can settle it with either the other parties insurance company or the other driver personally.

    It would be courteous to get in contact with the other person though.


  2. Someone else gave you an incorrect answer. She says there is no law that says you have to give insurance to another perso. That is not true. By law, if you are involved in an accident, you must exchange information (insurance, car license plate number, name & telephone number)with the other party (s) involved. In the instance you speak of, you were required to leave your information somewhere on the vehicle you hit. Since you know there wqas a report filed, go to who has the the report & get the information. Have your cousin turn it in to his / her insurance company and they will handle it.

  3. To Hit and run is against the law.  Your way out won't be cheap nor pleasant
