What do i do if my hermit crab wont go in a shell?

okay so i just got a hermit crab,and i walked downstairs when i realized he wasnt in his shell. its been 5 days now and i put three shells in there and he refuses to go in one. idk what i can do, i really dont want him to die=[[

it wont fit in that shell any more get several new ones hermit crabs like to change shells all the time

You need to have many shells available. He needs to find one that fits to his/her liking.  Don't worry give her/him some time ^_^

you should buy him a bigger shell that he will fit into. take him with you to the pet store and an assitant will help you find the right size shell that he will go in and shells are like 50 cents so it wont hurt ur wallet that much

aw where did you get the crab from ? i want one.

put a selection of them in there big enough for it! they like really big shells like conch's

measure the opening on his old shell then buy one with a slightly bigger opening. if he does not move into the new shell then push him into them  look at this site it helps alot!!!     http://www.hermit-crabs.com

Put a lot of shells in the his tank and just wait. Give him a large selection of shells but still leave room for him to move XD! My friend has two hermit crabs and he leaves a bunch of shells for it. You can even paint the shell and put stuff on it! Just remember to let them dry before putting them in. Just give your crab many different sized shells. I'm not even sure if hermit crabs really need a shell unless there are predators around for it to be attacked by. That might even be the problem (there are no threats to him so he feels no true need to have a shell) I've never had a hermit crab but I'm pretty sure the shell isn't a complete necessity unless you have a pet seagull XD! Just remember to feed him to keep him alive and he will move into a shell on his own.
