If i find out the person who drove it, (easy because it is someone who works over the road, and their car will be there on Monday, and i have the paint marks on my car to prove what colour the car is) What can be done? If the person has no insurance, then what do i do?

Also, can that person get in trouble or something because they didn't tell me, and just drove away?

  1. Walk around the parking lot and look for the car that you think hit yours.Leave a note with your cell phone or home number.Tell this person to call you.If you do not get a call back this person is the one that hit your car.

    Good luck

  2. If you don't have a witness to the incident then there's nothing you can do. They may well have paint on their car the same colour as your vehicle but you cannot prove that it is from your vehicle. You can try approaching the person about it but don't hold your breath for the outcome you would like. You could try contacting the police but the first thing they are going to ask is "do you have an independent witness?" Your answer is no so they'll file a report but no action will be taken.

  3. thats a bit unfortunate but i think you will find that most car parks have a disclaimer that people park there cars at there own risk to cover them selves for such an accident.but as other people have said if it was on a public highway then thats a different matter as long as you know who hit your car you can go to the police good luck let us know what happens

  4. If you find the vehicle that hit yours (paint matches up) then call the police and file a report.

They can get a ticket for leaving the scene of an accident.

If they have insurance, call their company and make a claim for your damages.

If they do not have insurance, you can make the claim under your policy. That is, if you have collision or Uninsured Property Damage coverage on your policy.

If you don't, you can try and work something out with this person to have them pay for the damages.

    Best of luck

  5. I rather think you're in the UK so it depends if it was on the highway or on a car-park. If it was on a car-park the police will not get involved. If it was on the highway, they've "left the scene of an accident" and the police will get involved.

You'll have a job, I'm afraid, proving which vehicle it was, no matter how strong your suspicions, without witnesses.

  6. unless someone saw it and can be a witness then nothing. u can go to the police with your suspicions but i doubt they will do anything

  7. I think unless you can prove beyond any doubt it was the person you suspect, then I would forget it. If the damage isnt too serious, I would "wipe my mouth" and put it down to the joys of motoring. Annoying as it is. I on one occasion had somebody hit me whilst i was stationary, and drove off. I got their number reported it to the Police who informed me that he thought I`d driven off and he couldnt see me to exchange particulars. They gave me his details in case I wanted to pursue the matter Slight damage, case closed. In many of incidences like this its not worth the effort. If I was the third party in an incident like you`ve described and got a letter from an Insurance company, believe me I would ignore it.

  8. leaving the scene of an accident is an arrestible offence.  you can provide the police with the details of the 'suspected' car, but you can't go throwing accusations around.  if you do it properly you should get a result.

  9. If there's damage to your car and you have their registration number then you can contact the police, they may need a witness before taking any action though.

If you don't have a witness, their registration number etc then doubt there's much you can do.

  10. I hope you filed a police report as soon as it happened. That's the best way to handle it. You can tell the cops which ones you think it might be, but you have to let the investigators handle it. I hope you catch the b*****d, i hate people who hit and run.

  11. If the car was parked in a car park then you have a problem as insurance doesnt count on private property. Even if you do find the offending car, how do you know they will not turn the situation around and say that you hit them ?? No witness's either way !!

  12. Ask the owners of the car park if there are any video cameras in the area. It may be on camera.

  13. If you can prove it then phone the police

  14. file a police report.  they will take the info and track down person.  no insurance, will have to go to small claims court.  and yes they will get in trouble, it's called a hit and run.
