  1. PHOENIX I WOULDNT SAY WILD BIRDS BUT ID SAY BIG BIRDS LIKE HAWKS.

CALL THE ROYAL SOCIETY FOR THE PROTECTION OF BIRDS(RSPB)   OR  CALL THE ROYAL SOCIETY FOR THE PROTECTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS(RSPCA)  GOOD LUCK I HOPE YOU FIND SOMONE SOON!

  2. feed it small pieces of raw chicken or raw mice or baby mice

dont call anyone all people are too lazy to help just feed him and he will grow in your back yard

cool thing to have though :)

  3. Ask the local Animal Control for the phone # of a wildlife sanctuary in the area. They will typically rehabilitate wild birds and release them in safe areas. You would probably have to bring the bird to them though.

If you see the mother or father bird is coming to feed it then I would leave it alone.

  4. wow the local zoo and humane society are stupid. umm call a vet and a pet store. they can tell u what to do

  5. Uh, Lanie<3--Have you ever seen a hawk at a pet store?   I doubt it.  Therefore, through the power of deduction, pet stores do not have any knowledge of wild birds what so ever.

I am sure that the hawk can fly.  It is most likely a fledgling--meaning, that it is *learning* how to fly.  The parents will care for it.  Do *not* attempt to feed him or care for him--leave him where he is.  Attempting to help or care for him would be more harm than good.  Also, it is illegal for you to care for a native speciecs--such as hawks--and you, or your parents (who ever is in charge of your household) will suffer up to a 500$ fine and/or 6 months in federal prison, maybe more if this is an endangered hawk.

Also, the parents will take care of the young by starving them.  This sounds cruel, but this, in the end, will help the young hawk.  Because of the hunger that he will suffer, he will be forced to fly up to a place where the parents have placed food (such as a dead squirrel or something similiar), like on a tree branch.  This will help the young fly.

Please let nature take its course.

I promise you that the parents are still around and watching their baby.

Please, I implore you to *Leave Him Alone*.

    Thank you,

    Phoenix

  6. If the mother is there, let her take care of it, if not, take it to the vet and they might do something about it

  7. If it's a fledgling hawk, and you can't see any visible injury - leave it alone.

Do not attempt to feed or handle the bird.  They are protected by law.  You cannot bring it into your home.

If it is injured - call a raptor center or wildlife rehabilitator who specializes in birds of prey.  They are not only trained and equipped experts, but they are also the only people who can legally care for native wild birds in North America.

In the US, rehabilitation is regulated by the Federal government and State DNR (Dept of Natural Resources), or Dept of Fish and Game. Services are free to the public, as all native wild birds are protected by federal law.

There are several sites with listing of rehabbers, although the easiest way to find one is to search Yahoo! or Google for "wildlife rehabilitation + your state (try both full and abbreviated)". Also search on "DNR rehabilitation + your state".

You may be able to find a contact for a nearby rehabber through your local humane society, animal shelter, or police department.

edit****   Wild animals are not pets.  Do not contact a vet, pet shelter or pet store.   Unless a vet is licensed to treat wildlife - they cannot help you.

If you want sound advice - contact a RAPTOR CENTER.
