I'll be traveling to Oregon from San Antonio this summer. I've flown alot but i've never had to switch planes before. How does that work? Any advice. My stop is from San Antonio to Phoenix and its a hour layover. What do i need to do or what is the process to switch planes. I will also have my 10 month old son with me as well. Any advice on swtich planes, what did you do. I will be flying Southwest too. Thanks

  1. It's pretty straight forward.  On a connecting flight, you do not need to do anything with your checked luggage.  It will be routed to your next flight automatically.  You don't need to leave the "sterile area" of the airport, so there's no need to clear security again.  There's no need to check in either, assuming that you are issued a boarding pass in Oregon, which is the norm.  When you land in Phoenix, just take your carry-on belongings with you and check a departure monitor to confirm the gate of your next flight.  Then head to that gate and board.

  2. its easy the first plane land at the connecting airport

you walk off that airplane  look at the departure board

to see where your next flight departs from (sometimes

the flight attendants will make an announcements to what

gate flight so and so is leaving from and then you go to that

gate and board the 2nd flight to your destination

the same way you boarded your first flight

  3. just do as they say...

  4. It's easy and all the Southwest Gates in Phoenix are in one place so you won't have far to go for your next flight. And there are tons of stores in the terminal Southwest uses and that makes for shorter lines.
