  1. People usually build Betta Barracks or put them all in separate jars.

And you're not going to keep all of the babies.  Many will die, other you will cull away to keep the most desirable traits.

If you don't have the money to house and feed and clean for all these babies, don't breed 'em ;)

  2. Once they show aggression they need to be separated into their own 1 gallon containers. Most breeders use things like beanie boxes on a DIY drip filter system like this:

Without a filter system they would need daily water changes, and to be heated (one inventive way is to put the boxes in a larger tank with water around them with a heater in that).

Either way, breeding bettas is not for someone with limited space!

  3. You have to "jar" them individually. You literally have to pick out the males and put them in at least 1/2-3/4 gallon jars. Then you have to do partial daily water changes on each "jar".

To find the "jars", search aquabid.com for fellow breeders. I use 1 gallon containers from Walmart. They are clear with a blue lid and they are Mainstay brand. They sell them in the tupperware section for about $2 per 2-pack.

  4. If you dont have a plan for the betta fry, chances are you arent ready to breed bettas. But if you really do I would duggest you get a 10 gallon tank, and do ALOT of research. You must have ALOT of pateince, time, space, and food. Also the bettas will start to develope color in about 5-6 months I belive, and should be seperated sooner. You will have a bit of time to think about this. But if you are planning to give them to pet stores, please dont, there are already WAY too many bettas in pet stores with the crappiest conditions, they are over populated, so why not pass out fliers out about your fish, or ask family memebers, friends, and nieghbors. you should also make sure that only responsible pet owners get them! Hope this helps! Good Luck! =]

-By the way bettas need at least 1 gal tanks, you can get container for a dollar each (1 gal)!

  5. Well you should have around 40 gallon tannk with filter and feed them by krill, so thier growth will be faster.

    Hope it helped you
