I love my cat to bits. She was once very timid and had been rescued from somewhere when i adopted her. She had stayed in a cattery and was a total different cat from what she is now. What should i do, im thinking of getting my close family friend to check on her feed her, play with her. I fear that if i send her to a cattery she'll think ive abandoned her. The family friend i normally send her to has now got to viscious cats. What do i do?

  1. i have a cat like yours. we put her in a cattery whenever we go away and she is actually getting better. I think she likes that we do come back.

  2. My cat was beaten for the first year of her life until I rescued her, she is totally hysterical . When I take her for her vaccinations it takes the vet & the nurse to hold her.

I tried taking her to a cattery a couple of times, they couldn't even get into the cage to feed her, so now I've found someone who comes in, they just feed her, change her tray & go.

She always huffs & puffs at them when they first come in & then disappears until they've gone. It's about the best solution I've come up with as at leasts she eats now.

  3. don't put your cat in a cattery. my friend did that with her cat and it died cause it thought she was giving her up. give her to a really close friend or family member that knows how to look after animals. :-)

  4. I think that the best thing to do is send the friend to feed her and stay with her... if she's so sensitive, she could suffer a lot if you leave her in a place that she doesn't know, with other people, other food, other pets..... some years ago we left our cat in a cattery for a week, and when we went to pick him back, he was so mad with us, he didn't want to be touched for days........ but he wasn't sensitive! He just felt betrayed..... I adopted a cat which is really sweet and sensitive, and i can see that she suffer much only bringing her to the vet!

  5. calm your cat down, like let it do wot it wants, then if its calmed down, wen you go on hols you can give it 2 a trusted friend!

  6. If you can get your friend to come  in everyday then I thing that would be more settling for your cat.  Don't expect her to love you for a couple of weeks when you get back tho.  Cats bear a grudge, but she will come round.

  7. I wouldn't send her to a cattery either.

I always get someone I trust to house/cat sit for me, or pop in daily to spend some time and feed my cats
