What do i feed my needle fish?

Ive been feeding them rosey red feeders...but everyone is telling me not to because they carry disease... so im completely lost. I hear they are supposed to eat live food but what do i feed them that wont kill them any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only thing I have ever seen them eat is roseys. What you could do is set up a small tank with just water and a small filter and keep roseys in that. Just monitor them and keep them healthy. Kinda like a feeder tank:)
