i'm not a teacher but i can finish my degree pretty quickly and receive certification through my state's accelerated teaching program. i would love to teach the pregnant/mother teens at their class locations (they have a separate location, apart from the schools). as far as i know, there is only one location in our area, but now i've forgotten the name of it and so can't call them. i know people in the school system but they don't know. would the guidance counselors at the high school know? does anyone know if i have to be a PhD or just a certified teacher?? are there special qualifications or classes that i would need?

btw, i'm a young mom myself, this is my hubby's avatar

  1. Call the schools office or the district's central office...someone there will know.

  2. I volunteered for a semester at a school just like this and LOVED it.  I am hoping one day to work in a place like that again because it was enjoyable.  The teachers that worked there had their teaching credential and were authorized to teach a single subject.  They had different teachers for the subjects (Math, English, Social Studies, etc.)  The one class that they students loved was the class on actual parenting skills and pregnancy.  It was broken up by students who were pregnant and students who already had their babies so they took a different class based on what they needed help with.  They also did a lot of projects in this class.  The teacher who taught that class had her credential and was a certified birthing coach and had some other certification in teaching pregnant and parenting classes.  Good Luck.
