  1. psychology or social ecology.  Social ecology I heard does not require as much research and you can work with people.  Eventually, you will need your masters too so that you don't have to work under a supervisor and you can work as a counselor, etc...  When you get your phd you will be a shrink.

  2. You haven't made it clear what you mean by "shrink."

A Psychiatrist is a medical doctor with additional specialized training. To become a psychiatrist you have to go through medical school.

A Psychologist is either a PsyD or a PhD. A PsyD or Doctor of Psychology degree has more of a focus on clinical work and the PhD has more focus on research. Psychologists cannot prescribe medicine.

It's impossible to give a meaningful estimate of how much they make without knowing what field you would be interested in. A successful psychiatrist in private practice can make a fortune, but there's no guarantee of success. It's very different being a sports psychologist or a researcher for a large corporation, versus working for a small non-profit clinic.

You can see more about what specific degrees you need in these two wiki articles. Basically at the undergraduate level you want either pre-med (to be a psychiatrist) or a psychology degree (for a psychologist). To pass pre-med you're going to need to be strong on math and science, psychology not so much.

  3. About the same salary as a medical doctor when ina hospital setting, but as a private therapist about 150-200 dollars per hour. Now here is a list of education you will be required to pursue; 4 years of general education-bachelor degree, graduate school about 2-3 years, medical school about 4 years then an internship about 1-2 years. Approximately 8-10 years in all. are you still interested? Try working on a masters degree in psychology and work as a mental health counselor; about $50,000-65,000 yearly. That would require about 6-7 tears of school! Still interested? try a bachelor degree in psychology and work independently as a licensed social worker ;about $30,000-35,000 yearly. Or you can just pretend!

  4. if you want to be a shrink?psychiatrist you have to go to medical school. is you want to be a psychologist you go to psychology. these are 2 very different things. psychiatry is a branch of medicine that deals with treating mental disorders, psychiatrist can prescribe meds, psychologists can't.

  5. At a minimum, you have to complete four years of college taking a lot of science courses, then four years of medical school and, finally, four years of psychiatry residence training. After all that hard work, you'll have to put up with what you said in your statement being call a "shrink."

    This is what it takes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Psychology.

You can make anything from very little to a whole lot depending on where in the field and in what area you work.

  7. psychology

psychologist average bout $67,000 to $89,000

psychiatrist average bout $153,000 to $198,000
