What do i look at in terms of accreditation for school?

I am very interested in doing some courses online since I would still like to work and set my own hours. I am worried though about putting money into something that isnt going to be recognized by a potential employer or another college if i choose to continue my education again.

It seems there are many groups that accredit different schools so how do i know which is the best or legitimate?
