I am looking at speakers and i have a couple of q's. If i buy one with an rms rating of 380 watts and a peak of 1500. If i buy an amp rated for 1500 watts will the speakers blow if i crank up the volume all the way.

  1. what DonB is probably noticing is the clipping of the head unit, since that usually happens around 3/4 volume.  You can almost always over power speakers will no ill effects as long as things are set up properly, gains are adjusted properly, subs are in the correct boxes, etc.  And besides, unless you get a high output alternator and run some beefy wires, you'll never see 1500 watts anyway.

  2. YOU MUST BE TALKING ABOUT SUBS WITH A POWER RATING OF 1500 WATTS,U NEED TO BE SURE THAT THE SPEAKERS ARE OF GOOD QUALITY FIRST,THEN BUY A AMP THAT CAN PUSH AND AVERAGE OF 1500 WATTS RMS AND JUST PUSH THE SUBS A LITTLE AT A TIME TO SEE IF THEY CAN HANDLE THE POWER,USUALLY SUBS WILL SOUND BETTER AT LOWER LEVELS OF SOUND RATHER THAN FULL BLAST ALL THE TIME,I LIKE THE POUNDING SOUNDS FROM THE SUBS MYSELF,BUT FOUND AT 3/4 VOLUME THEY SOUND REALLY GOOD.
