  1. Go to Academy and buy some PFG's.

Well offshore is a pretty broad statement. Maybe east coast, west coast, gulf of mexico, offshore of Antarctica.

  2. Spare clothes, it can be cold off shore even if its warm on land, also a water-proof jacket is a must, once again the weather can change at sea, and there is nothing worse than when its raining on a boat and youre not catching anything, sunscreen is VERY important as its very easy to get burnt by the light reflecting up from the water, also a pair of sunglasses is a must along with a hat, baseball hats will not protect your ears and neck which can be a big disadvantage out on the water, also take a life jacket, its very important, most chartes keep them on board but i prefer my own, other than that plenty of water, motion sickness medication and some food.

  3. Depends on how long you are going for. When I go I usually wear a bathing suit and a sleeveless or old white tee shirt. I say white because dark colors get hot. I wear a bathing suit because if it gets hot or I get all bloody and fishy I like to jump in the water. Bring a hat, sunglasses, Sunblock. If food and drinks are provided for you than don't worry. If not than I would bring something to eat, and drink (no Bananas its bad luck). Simple PB and J is good,  of course I like to bring a big sub with me but thats just me. Thats really about it. Just be careful and have a good time. Also if you get seasick or think you might it won't hurt to take some non-drowsy motion sickness pills. Oh and Bring a camera just in case you land the big one. GOOD LUCK

Edit: This is assuming you are fishing in a warm climate like Florida. Being here in Florida where the temperature is 90 all summer one tends to forget the weather is different elsewhere.

  4. shorts and a t-shirt, unless you've got something lighter like an actual fishing shirt. Also, take a ball cap you won't regret it.

  5. Well you need a rod and reel, an extra rod and reel, and your tacklebox . Life jacket, a cloth/wrag for wiping your hands on. You didnt say if your goin with somebody else or not. If you are you wont need as much stuff because they will have an air horn, flares, and all that stuff.

  6. Really depends on the part of the world you're in and the current weather. Off So. Cal, even in the summer, it can be downright cool offshore, and if the wind comes up, it can be pretty uncomfortable with the spray.

In general, dress in layers -- a light jacket, a sweatshirt, then a tee shirt. Even if it's going to be 90 degrees, a light windbreaker is a good idea in case the wind comes up.

On a party or large charter boat, I'd advise short rubber boots (then you don't have to watch out when the crew hoses the deck); otherwise cloth tennis shoes. Open-toed sandals are a bad idea -- on a rocking boat it's common to bang your toes on things or have someone else step on your foot.

Don't forget a hat -- baseball style to shade your eyes, or a broad brim one to shade your face and neck -- sunglasses, and sunscreen.
