What do i need other than cleaning supplies to start a house cleaning business?

I live in kansas, so would i need a permit?

Also how much is recommended to charge per hour?

1.  I would still suggest you have your own cleaning supplies which include various products (although there are resources to make your own), rags, a light weight vacuum-some of the less expensive ones do just fine.

2.  Not sure about permits in Kansas, so call your city or county clerk and ask.  Usually, permits are a more local issue.

3. $18-$30 per hour is about average.  Alot depends on how big the house is, what the client wants you to do, even where you are located (meaning large city, suburbs, rural). You could call around, particularly to franchises (merry maid?) and ask their hourly rate--which is dictated by the corporate office, so you can easily under bid it.

4. And, I would check into getting a small bond or liability insurance policy for yourself.  It makes your customers trust you and covers you from any accusations of damages.

I have a Housekeeper once every two weeks. I do not permit the Housekeeper to bring in any cleaning supplies, rags, vacuum etc.  Anything she wants - I buy for her and it is kept in my Home.

There are many customers who have the same rules.

$18.00 per hour is a reasonable charge with a minimum of two hours.

If you but your own products, you may want to consider green cleaners.  Many people are looking for that now a days.  If you want info on good, cheap cleaners contact me.  Even if your client provides the cleaners, you may want to find out if they use green products, if not you may ask if you can use your own green products or get them to buy green products to have on hand.

I can show you a cheap company to get them from and if you refer clients to buy from this company you could make some money back to buy more products.
