Go to www.adoptuskids.org and adopt a foster child.There are many children in foster care looking for forever parents.On this web site there are many pictures and stories of the kids waiting for homes.I might even adopt a child myself.I feel real bad for alot of these kids.Give it a try.It might be your calling!

The first thing you need, in my opinion is lots of time spent researching adoption.  Do your homework.  Read what adoptive parents have to say.  Read what adoptees have to say.  Read what b-parents have to say.  Just have a really clear understanding of what adoption is really about.  There are a LOT of myths out there about adoption.  Don't base your decision on what the agencies say about adoption.  They have their own agenda, which is to find a place for their overflowing case load of children.  Don't listen to the media.  They go for the exciting news-making stories of famous stars rescuing poor little babies from all over the world, and giving them the dream life that evey baby would want. Don't listen anyone except those who have had firsthand experience with adoption.  Find out what was good about it and what was bad about it.  

I'm not saying that you shold not adopt.  I am only saying that no one should ever make a decision as huge as this one until they have a good knowledge of what adoption is really like for all the parties involved.  

The rest is just icing.

Go to this website. It explains it all. I think first of all you need to be financially stable, ready for the responsibility, and be a positive person for the child.  I think it all begins with Homesteady.

Warrior Mom has the best answer. Research first-hand experiences of adoption. Read books written by adoptees, bio parents & adoptive parents, e.g. Nancy Verrier, "The Primal Wound", stuff like that.

Need more details.  You will need to find an agency.  Go through home visits and fill out lots of paperwork.  There are a lot of legal matters to take care of.  Things will depend on if it is county adoption, agency adoption locally or internationally or a family adoption.  Open or closed.
