  1. flour shells

    refried beans

    taco or enchilada sauce or salsa

    shredded cheddar

    onion and lettuce if you like

    sour cream and black olives are also awesome too

    ground beef(if you're going to cook em with your beans)

    flour tortilla or pita bread

    tomato sauce

    cayenne pepper

    cheese

    tomatoes

    onions

    garlic and

    potatoes if you like.

    cook everything together except the bread, cheese and tomatoes. toast bread in a pan or oven.

  6. I don't know what you already have at home, but here's a couple of simple recipes that may start you on the right track. You could always add some protein to these (if that's your thing) or top them with some diced tomatoes, scallions, jalapeno's, sour cream or salsa, whatever you like. I also like to serve these on a bed of shredded lettuce (almost any kind) to lighten it up a bit!  Hope this helps you today!

    Delicious Black Bean Burritos



    INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)

    2 (10 inch) flour tortillas

    2 tablespoons vegetable oil

    1 small onion, chopped

    1/2 red bell pepper, chopped

    1 teaspoon minced garlic

    1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained

    1 teaspoon minced jalapeno peppers

    3 ounces cream cheese

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro



    DIRECTIONS

    Wrap tortillas in foil and place in oven heated to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Bake for 15 minutes or until heated through.

    Heat oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat. Place onion, bell pepper, garlic and jalapenos in skillet, cook for 2 minutes stirring occasionally. Pour beans into skillet, cook 3 minutes stirring.

    Cut cream cheese into cubes and add to skillet with salt. Cook for 2 minutes stirring occasionally. Stir cilantro into mixture.

    Spoon mixture evenly down center of warmed tortilla and roll tortillas up. Serve immediately.

    2 (10 inch) flour tortilla

    1/2 cup vegetarian refried beans

    2 slices American cheese

    2 pinches ground black pepper

    2 teaspoons low-fat sour cream

    2 dashes hot pepper sauce



    DIRECTIONS

    This recipe's Ingredients were scaled to yield a new amount. The directions below still refer to the original recipe yield of 1 serving.

    In a small pot heat the refried beans until they are heated through, approximately 5 minutes.

    Warm the tortilla in a dry frying pan over medium-high heat.

    Lay the burrito on a flat surface. Place the refried bean in the center of the burrito, layer the cheese, pepper, sour cream and hot sauce over the beans. Roll the tortilla so that the mixture is wrapped in the center. Serve warm.
