I found a new 50cc scooter/moped for around 350$ that a friend is willing to sell me. I need one so I can commute around, since my college town doesnt have a mass transit system.

I live in texas and i have checked the dps site but its somewhat vague on certain points.

is anyone willing to give a step by step procedure or instructions on how to prepare for a moped? any

information would be helpful.

like what type of insurance? license? registration? where to park? do i need to take a test if my engine is 50cc? where can i go if the max speed is 35mph?

  1. its kinda sad that we are giving up the ability to walk are ancestors walked everywhere since they didnt have cars back than....... ( try walking instead much healthier for you )

  2. the state of texas requires u to ahve a license n also a plate for it cause it goes over 50 mph and u ahve to have insurance

on also. it is concider a motor cycle more or less due to the mph that it goes.

  3. Generally...sorry don't know Texas law. Anyone with a license to drive a car can drive a moped of that caliber. Titling, registration is similar to a car but just a different form. Some states don't require a drivers license I believe. Ins is like motorcycle insurance but cheaper. Its all easy.Easier than getting a car.
