i want to have the best sophomore year. my cotillion is in february and in freshmen year, no one asked me to formal. i want to change that. the only problem is are those popular girls. their so pretty and i feel so intimidated by them. i've never been on their bad side and i don't want to be either. of course, ALL the guys go for them. i don't think i'm ugly but i don't think i'm the prettiest one either. i'm the oldest one in my class and this year i really want a date to cotillion. any ideas on how to gain guy friends?

  1. You should go for the quiet, shy guys who are too self conscious to ask out the popular pretty girls.  You need to find the "diamond in the rough".  I'm sure he's there.  Is there anyone you are interested in, or someone who seems to have the same interests that you have?  Then, you will probably have to take the lead, get them to open up, and you may even have to be the one doing the asking.  Even if you don't find someone to go the formal with, it could still be the best year!!

  2. What is it about these girls that intimidate you?  I don't know your exact situation but I think you need to learn to appreciate yourself more.

Try to do something for you that will improve your self-esteem and confidence e.g. making application class, wardrobe makeover, change hair style, look for ideas in fashion magazines and work with what you got but most importantly is believing in yourself.

I'm pretty sure you are beautiful but you just need to learn how to make it shine more on the outside.  Guys are attracted to different things so make sure you appeal the right kind of guy.
