What do i need to do to become a professional interpreter in the court/hospitals?

i am bi-lingual(english/spanish) and i am interested in this profession, just need more information

  1. You will need a bachelors degree at minimum.  In anything really if you are already bilingual but preferably in linguistics, communications, or the language itself specializing in translation.  Since Spanish is so prolifically spoken, you will have a ton of competition from very highly qualified people. It helps to pick up another language too.  

    It may be hardest getting your foot in the door.  So best to do pro-bono work for non-profit agencies (i.e. homeless shelters, etc) in translation services so you can build experience and have some meaningful references.
