What do i need to keep crested gecko ?? ( how to set up the habbitat?? )

i have a 30 gallon tank that im gonna use to keep it

what will i need???

any kind of :

light??

heat sourse??( heat pad)

i did some research and i found that room temparature will be ok to keep it

also how many can i keep in one tank ??? ( can i keep 2 or 3?? ) or they are more of solitare/independent species

are they handable ??

and as for the set up i have a screen top ,heat lamp and heat pad,fluroscent light, water bowls and some branches ( will i neeed somethign else?? ) i know that they need HIGH humidity in the habbitat can i get one of those small waterfalls or daily misting will be enough ?? and what do they eat

AND HOW MUCH APPROX. DO THEY COST ( AT PETCO OR PETSMART)

ok cresties need 2 feet of high minimum if your tank is lower than this it just wont do.

you dont need any specialist lighting but a light on a timer is always a good idea.

a heat lamp on a thermostat is a good idea incase of cold snaps etc

i would only put 1 in a 30 gallon but in theory you could have 2 never house males together

yeah they handable altho sometimes randomly jump out of your hands and its always good to remember that they can shed there tails and are one of only a few gecko species that dont grow it back

set-up sounds good i would make sure they have plently of places to climb

yeah that should be enough to keep humidity high enough

i would never buy a rep from petsmart or petco as they deal in wild caught animals which i think is cruel. get it from a breeder or a rep shop that has captive bred ones

30 gallon tank can kep up to probaly 3-4 geckos only 1 male (if more than one male they fight) if you have a male and females they will most likely breed.  females do well in groups.  Room temp should be good unless its cold where you live or winter.  Make sure you have a lot of leaves in there and a hiding place or two.  If you get a waterfall the crested gecko could drown just mist him/her once a day in the evening (they are more active at night because there nocturnal) have a food bowl and water bowl.  They eat crickets, wax worms (only as a treat because they are very fattening), dont feed meal worms they are to hard for a crested geckos jaws, earth worms you could try, silk worms, roaches, locusts, I dont reccomend feeding insects that you just find outside(they could have pesticides which are very bad for lizards.  You can feed them baby food (fruit or meat, I use two part fruit and mix with one part meat and add some calcioum powder, example is apricot and banana mixed with turkey and add some calcioum powder)  they will eat the baby food from a spoon or your finger or a bowl.   There is also Crested gecko diet, it is a powder you mix with water and it is a complete diet you dont need to feed him/her insects, but its good to feed them insects because its their natural instinct to hunt.  Make sure to dust all insects with calcioum powder (go to your petstore and buy some rep cal for lizards, i think thats what it is called.  Then put some in a bag and put some crickets in the bag and shake it, until the crickets are white.)  You only need to dust insects every other insect feeding. They cost around 50-70 dollars at petco. Oh and they are very good at handling, they are sjumpy but will calmd own every time you handle them.
