What do i need to know for my 6 hours?

i am 16 and i live in New Jersey. I am starting my 6 hours on Friday. What do i need to know? Do i have to know how to drive? I took Drivers Ed in school but that class did not teach you anything about operating a car it just taught you about drinking and driving etc.

**I am not going to take my PERMIT TEST -- i am only taking my 6 hours behind the wheel.. in NJ you have to complete the 6 hours behind the wheel THEN you get your Permit. Do i need to know how to operate a car or is it the instructors job to teach me? And if anyone here has taken there six hours what exactly goes on during those 6 hours? what should i expect? does the instructor talk things out?

I am just really nervous.

It's going to be great. All teens who start their "6 hours" haven't driven yet either. Or else they wouldn't be taking the class. The teacher will talk things out with you and give you directions. Just listen and stay focused. Don't overreact to things like sudden stops or animals on the road. The teacher will have a brake peddle on her/his side of the car. They're used to new drivers so don't be so scared. It's going to be a piece of cake!
