  1. If your only starting you don't need a $100 pro deck, I would reccomend to stay with your walmart board until you get the basic controlling and balance down. I learned all that, ollies, and began to learn kickflips on a walmart deck, its all I needed. So I would reccomend learning all that first and once you get better to invest in a better pro deck. Board prices do vary, depending on brands, but a good deck could cost you anywhere from $50-$70, only the board, not including trucks which are $30-$50 depending on brand. A complete board would usually run around $130-$160. I think for a beginner though, I would stick to the walmart board for now until you get better. Good luck!

Edit: Even if you are learning ollies and things I would still stick with another walmart board and once you get those down you should invest in a better deck. Thats what I did. The boards you buy at walmart are not authentic 7 ply canadian maple (which is what pro decks are made of) that is why they are cheap, this also makes them heavier, so if you learn ollies on a heavier deck.... they will be real high once you switch to a lighter pro deck. This will also make learning other tricks like kicklfips, heelflips, and varials much easier because of the height. Which is a good thing because kickflips are soo frusturating as it is lol, but good luck. :)

  2. for my first skateboard i got $50 one and then when i got better i got a $200 one

so u should probably get a chep one first to learn on then get a more expensive one when you get better
