  1. You should try to learn the basics before trying out. Its often best to have a group to practice with and even better if they have some knowlege in volleyball. As you might know, volleyball is a very competitive sport, espeically amoung girls. So as long as your practice alot, im sure you would make the team:) At tryouts they would probably do a bunch of drills that focus various skills as in spiking, digging, passing, serving and much more. And most likey they will have games going on to see which players are best for each posistion.

    Good Luck:)

  2. You need to learn how to pass the ball and serve first!! They are the very basics that EVERYBODY who plays MUST know. Next move on to hitting and setting. You have to know these to play to but coaches expect Freshman to at least know how to pass and serve. Blocking is also important to know if you're planning on playing front row.

To get ready you need COURT shoes. Don't wear regular tennis shoes or running shoes. They don't allow for the proper movement and you could get hurt. Court shoes have a rounder front so you can move better. There are volleyball shoes but I'd invest in those after tryouts if you make the team because they are expensive. Try to catch a sale in August if you can!

You'll need kneepads for sure so you don't bust your kees. If you make the team and you play front row you may consider ankle guards. They prevent sprained ankles (they've saved me a few times)

You'll need a comfy shirt. Try one that's a little big so you have room to move comfortably.

You can buy spandex if you want. If not shorts are fine just make sure they are athletic shorts, I'm not talking basketball shorts thought, those are harder to dive in.

DON'T FORGET A WATER BOTTLE! Water is VERY important. Drink a lot the day before try outs so you're hydrated and ready to go! Good luck!!!!

  3. you better be super *** good at tryouts cause the other girls will whip you asssssssssss off

  4. would you really like to make varsity or are you open to jv or the freshmen team??

personally i think that you should stay on the freshmen team the first year. it helps you transition into the highschool level escecially if you are just starting. you need to learn a lot of stuff. i guess the most important part i guess is bumping. you will need to know how to get the ball to the setter on the second hit. it needs to be high enough so she can set it [to set you put your hands above your head and connect your index and thum fingers and make a diamond shape. when the ball comes, you push out] you should know how to set pretty well but it isn't as important as some other things. you have to be able to serve overhand. [you put the ball in front of you in both hands and throw it up in the air. not too high but high enough for you to take a step forward and wind up your hand so you can hit it. you hit the ball on the space right below your fingers.

to hit, you do the same thing only you have to do an approach to get you to jump high enough to get your hand over the net. dont forget to snap your hand =]

umm i think thats about it...email me if you need anything else

  5. You should learn to bump and serve first, then you should learn how to spike and set.  Bumping and serving is the most inportant thing to know on a volleyball court - you can just serve and bump inn the whole game and still win...  My team did.

  6. If you expect to even have a chance at making Varsity you have to be able to overhand serve! Bumping, setting, spiking and really important to.

  7. You need to know how to set, spike, serve, dive, and pass. You should expect all of this and lots of running.

If beach volleyball, you should expect and need to look hot in those bikinis.

If gym volleyball, you should expect and need to look hot in spandex.
