fl studio, reason, cakewalk, and theres a bunch of programs online that you gotta pay for though like sonicproducerpro

try fruit loops. that and a keyboard would be great for making the melodies that go in the beat. and im pretty sure you could benefit from playing drums cause they are what give the beat in rock music and could do the same for other music
