I want to make my own diapers, how are they put together? With which fabrics where? I know most of them have flannel and fleece and some sort of a soaker (from what Ive read, i've never used cloth diapers before) so does the flannel sit next to babys skin, and the fleece on the outside (for an all in one diaper) and the soaker pads in between the two? any help advice or tips about anything concerning cloth diapering would be appreciated!!

  1. Everything you need to know about cloth diapers is here.

There are two kinds of fleece used in diapers.  Microfleece is really thin and goes against the baby's skin.  It kinda works like the dry weave stuff on maxi pads by pulling the pee into the soaker layer.  It really works, too.  You can also use suede cloth.  The other kind of fleece is the fleece you're used to seeing as baby blankets.  It's thick and pretty waterproof.

I've used flannel receiving blankets as flat diapers.  You can buy them cheap at yard sales to use as the soaker layer for your diapers and save some money.  Hemp is really absorbent.  It's expensive, but you don't need to use much.  I have hemp doublers that are just 3 layers thick and they hold a ton!  They're so thin!

Well, good luck!  Your baby will thank you!

  2. cloth and string...and make sure you wash them and dry them with unharmful detergents if your baby's skin is  sensitive.
