What kind of clock are we talking about? A small, battery powered kitchen clock? A simple nail in the wall or a small picture hanger will do the job adequately.

Are we talking about a Vienna Regulator? Some kind of wall clock, with weights? I have two hanging here, each clock has a sturdy loop on the back of the case meant for hanging them, I used the larger picture hangers that were rated for 50lb. each. One clock hangs on one hook, the other, hangs on two of these. See link.

Depends on the type of clock, the size of clock and the weight of the clock.  Is it weight driven, wind up or electric?
