What do i need to put in on or around the tank of a ball python?

i have a 8 month old ball python and im about to change him into a bigger tank what are the mportant things i need in the tank around it and on it ??? thanks for anyones ideas

I'm assuming you have all the nescessary heating and fuction tools, if you don't, feel free to say so and I'll clarify.

Inside the tank:

The absolutes necessities are two hides, one per side, although you can add more if your tank is big enough. A water dish that is sturdy and big enough for your snake to bathe in and bedding.

If you're into aesthetics, bedding could be Aspen, Desert snow, cypress mulch and so on.  

Decorations for the inside, these aren't important, but they help to the overall look and secure feeling.:

Plastic or silk plants. They make some snakes feel safer, and they will often slither underneath the plants rather than on open bedding. They also make the tank look better for your own pleasure of view. You may add a sturdy branch or two, as they will provide both excersise and a rub spot during sheds. Some people like to add RepTiles or rocks that have been boiled/baked previously. Be creative, as long as he has slither space and everything inside the tank is securely fixed, it'll be okay.

Around the tank:

Pythons like to feel securely enclosed, that is why hides are recommended snugly-fitting and why most people who have tanks will use greenery. If your tank is glass, purchase an aquarium background. These come in jungle patterns, so don't worry abount your snake slithering around coral and algae. Enclose your tank's back and sides, it is more likely to see your python out of hiding if it feels safe and out of "the spot light"

The basic idea of tank set-ups is to make it look as close to a natural enviroment as you can. If the tank is particulary big, the things you place inside will help your pet's peace of mind. Google up some photographs and be creative.
