What do i need to run a 50 gal saltwater aquarium?

Question

what do i need to run a 50 gal saltwater aquarium i know the basics of what i need but i dont know what the best filter or pump i should get . I don't have an over flow and the aquarium is for fish only

-Protein skimmer

-Lighting (PC, T5, MH, VHO, regular fluorescent, etc)

-Heater

-Powerheads (for circulation)

-Live rock

-Sand

-Salt

-RO/DI filter (not 'necessary' but highly recommended! I got mine off ebay for less than $100)

The protein skimmer will be your main, if not only piece of filtration. So try to get the biggest and best one you can afford. I usually get my skimmers used so I don't have to spend as much. Just be careful that the pump hasn't been used for too long and everything's in working condition...

When I had my 55g, I was using a Red Sea Prizm skimmer. It was pretty good. Just stay away from SeaClones, whatever you do! Most hobbyists will agree that they are terrible skimmers.

get a coralife super skimmer.they're worth the money.filterwise thats all you need.a canister filter would be nice too.a marineland 350 is good.use a couple powerheads.and a tank vacuum.along with a 300 watt heater.
