  1. i suggest parakeets, and if cost is an issue, either save up and buy from craigs list items--you can find parakeets there too-- i would not buy a parakeet over 15$ i say that because there are two species and the Australian verity is a cheap and good start.

    that being said you'll need:

parakeets--2 males are best to start with--. cage for them--i recommend biggest you can get--.

the cage will need in it: branches, water bowl, food bowl, water for them to  wash themselves in, spray millet, and cuttle bones, as well as mirrors and toys o keep them occupied.

you can probably build your own cage out of nylon mesh--the screening material used for windows-- to save money--trust me, you will consider at some prices--

thats about all your looking at for just two parakeets. also, make sure you find a vet that will be able to handle birds, and either have them cut the primiarry wing feathers so they dont fly away--thes will need to be done atleast 2 months- or they can teach you, i learned how to the first day working at a petsmart so i can say its not hard.

thats about it bro, good luck

  2. You should get a budgie. They are inot expensive and come in heaps of different colours and mutations

You will need a metal-barred cage with a slide-out tray. It should be at least 1m by 1m long and least 1 meter tall.

They enjoy toys, which keep them occupied as they get bored easily. Your local pet shop should have some. If they are wood and are dyed, be sure the dye is not toxic.

Always have cuttlefish bone in the cage. You can get special clips to attach them to the bars of the cage.

Your budgie(s) should have 3 food bowls, one for seed, one for water and one for shell grit. Clean out the water bowl every day. Everyday blow out the seed husks and top up the seed bowl with fresh seed. Every week tip out all the seed and all the shell grit and replace with fresh seed and shell grit. Seed is NOT a complete diet. You need to give your budgie(s) fresh foods (never avocado) such as apple, carrot broccoli, orange and pear. They will also enjoy treats such as grass seed, dandelion leaves and milk thistles

Your cage should have a slide-out tray. Every day tip all of the contents of it into the bin and clean with warm water. Every week put your budgie(s) into another cage, plastic box or cardboard box and scrub the cage bars, toys, perches, slide out tray and all the food bowls with warm water and mild soap. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and towel or sun dry. when you have put all the things back inside the cage, put your budgie(s) back in. Your budgie will enjoy a shallow dish full of luke-warm water to splash around in.

  3. Sound like you are trying to start breeding birds.  I agree with first person.  Knowlege and I don't think you should breed.  It is more than you think.  money, money, money.

  4. In my honest opinion, what you need to start is knowledge about raising and keeping birds. Read a couple of books before you get one.

  5. the parrots are expensive, for starters i would recommend a budgie they can be tamed and can learn to talk. Get a handfed one from a breeder they range from 10-60$. If you dont want somthing the wont need as much attention get a canary or finch they dont need to ys only food water and cage and require no attention they range from 40-60$.
