  1. You could start at a community college.  Schedule an apointment with an advisor at a college and tell them what you are wanting to do.  The advisor can map out every step you need to take.  I would suggest that you go to classes instead of taking them online.  You will get so much more out of hearing a teacher and having discussions with others in the classes.  Good Luck!  Us teachers rock!!!!

  2. Other responses are correct that you can enroll in community college courses. Also, have you considered getting an Associates degree? (check the link).

Do you know what area of teaching you'd like to go into? I'd recommend you research the various areas (such as special education, elementary, early childhood or secondary ed) and see what the curriculum in those programs entails.

    Good luck!

  3. I would agree with the other postee that suggested classroom learning as opposed to online classes unless one doesn't have transportation.

For general career info:  http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search 'Teachers' or such.  Some colleges offer early childhood education (N-3) as a major but most offer the full elementary education (K-5 or 6) as a major.

Please steer clear of those online, for-profit schools such as university of phoenix, penn foster, strayer, kaplan, devry, capella and others as they are merely out to 'make a profit':  http://www.capellauniversitysucks.us

http://www.ripoffreport.com and can type into search.

Most traditional community colleges and uni's offer online courses (mainly liberal arts courses) though if really set on taking classes in cyberspace :)
