What do i wear to a wedding party?

Its being held at a posh castle in the evening. The wedding was earlier in the day but i didnt go to that.

I was thinking either really smart black suit white shirt black tie or smart jeans smart shoes and smart shirt no tie.

I vote the smart black suit with a white shirt and a black tie.  It will make you look dashing!  :)

Why not compromise? Black suit with white shirt and black tie smacks to me of funeral attire. But if you changed the white shirt to a coloured shirt and smart tie. Or a coloured shirt and no tie, or the white shirt and a snazzy tie.

Not the jeans.  The suit sounds fine.

Maybe a nice polo shirt with suit pants.

Wear the suit not the jeans.

You want to be dressed up like you did go to the wedding. And the great thing about it is if you go and people don't seem so dressed up then you can always take of the tie or jacket. You do want be in dress pants though

the suit definitely.. its better to be overdressed than under-dressed.
