What do japanese women like in a man?

Question

Would they ever have a relationship with a filipino like me? How can I meet them besides going to japan? Thanks.

The best place to meet Japanese women for foreigners would be outside of Japan. The reason for this would take some time to explain but boils down to:

1. Japanese people are free of much of their societal restrictions when abroad. They look at vacation time as free time, a time when they can indulge themselves without being concerned about the watchful eyes of their fellow Japanese.

2. Their presence overseas shows at least a passing interest in things foreign. Many Japanese never leave Japan (it has many wonderful sightseeing areas). They will have some knowledge of English and a willingness to practice it with you.

I grew up in Honolulu and spoke my first words of Japanese there. When I was single I met many friendly Japanese women in Waikiki. It was what led me to live in Japan.

Meeting Japanese women in Japan is much more difficult. You will not have any of the advantages that you would have in a place like Honolulu and many, many disadvantages.

If they were to choose you as a boyfriend in Japan they would have to in part become a foreigner in their own country. People would stare, point and talk when you walk together down the street. Much of that talk would be negative. Japanese people are very sensitive to perceived criticism.

Japanese women would need you to behave in certain ways that you are not familiar with. Although not completely materialistic most girls would want to be able to brag about their boyfriend. Would she be able to brag about your rich parents? Your graduation from a well known school? Your yearly income? Odds are you would be rather poor in Japan by Japanese standards. Not a great start.

Find your dream girlfriend in a city frequented by Japanese tourists. Be confident and aggressive but not sleazy. Good Japanese girls know the difference. Find a male friend to go out with you to assist you. Japanese women travel in pairs and prefer to meet pairs of men (this is very important).

The fact that you are Filipino is not a big issue. If they are part of that 5% that would consider a foreigner you will be OK.

Well, don't look upon down yourself too much. I know a Japanese girl who is dating a Filipino guy and he has never been to Japan. They have been dating for quite a while now. He is not the "cute" type but he has a nice body apparently. So I think it depends on the girl according to the preference. But I suggest that for most girls, at least they would like you to have a nice body. Doesnt need to be a six-pack but a fit man body would be preferable ..

Nice personality would help as well. I guess if you find the right match, you will meet her. Good luck in searching for the one! We are all finding it challenging too ~~ =)

A comical appearance.  If you are "cute," that is, your appearance is exceedingly comical, they appear to like that.

It really depends a lot on the person.

Again though, if you are "cute," no one will point and stare, but if you are not, then people will point and stare.

There was this blogger girl who complained about how many nerd/Japanese girl couples she saw while teaching English in Japan, "Thelma" I believe she called herself.

In my experience, Japanese girls will fall into one of three categories; bratty, imature and annoyingly naive regarding evil in the world, materialistic as h**l as Sonny said, lastly a "Japanese good girl."

That is, good student, never gone on a date before much less even kissed a boy, beautiful, and odds are her dad is a big shot professional who will have a Yakuza hitman smack the c**p out of you if you so much as go near her.

Oh and, yeah, Hawaii is a pretty good place to meet Japanese girls, but an even better place is California.  The farther away from Japan, the better.

Also, I don't mean to try to show up Sonny here or make criticisms regarding physical appearances but; the reason Japanese will "point and stare" is because there is still some animosity against white people, or people with a brutish appearance.

You've seen Japanese cartoons right?  How white men look like neanderthals, and the women are portrayed as s**y?  Well, Japanese people will point and stare if they see, say, Yukie Nakama with Nicolas Cage, whome they consider hideously brutish and ugly.  Not a bad looking guy by western standards, where women are used to neanderthalish men, some even finding these physical characteristics as "desirable," but in Japan, women like their men "cute" or efeminate.

What I am trying to say is that nationality is not an issue, so much as what you look like, and the truth is people point and stare anywhere if, say, you saw Scarlet Johanson with, oh (who is really old and hideous......)  arm in arm with the king of Saudi Arabia.

If Scarlet Johanson was seen with the king of Saudi Arabia, people would point and stare ANYWHERE.

Please do not believe everything Sonny says PLEASE.  Japanese women are actually less materialistic overrall than most girls around the world.  In ninja warrior for instance, there is this competitor, whose wife's father OWNS the factory he works at.

Also, there are other such cases throughout the country.

Boy how can I put this another way.....

Whereas your typical western woman will pick an ugly billionaire, over a handsome doctor, most Japanese women will pick a handsome doctor, over an ugly billionaire.

Also so long as you are not dirt poor by any standards there should be nothing to worry about, and you sound like you can afford being able to go anywhere so, don't sweat it man....

One thing I know is that Japanese favor intelligence as much as Americans favor good looks, so don't act ditzy, it won't fly over there
