What do leopard geckos need for proper care ?

i will gt a 20 long but what do they need heater,hide etc. please be specific

well your going to need a undertank heater, about a third the size of the tank. place it on the side you want to be the 'warm side'

then you wanna get your substrate, your best bet is probably paper towels or tiles. sand can cause impaction. lay it down in the tank.

your gonna nead 2 hides all together, place one on the cool side and one on the warm side.

you need to get another hide and fill it with moss, and keep it damp. this aids in your geckos shedding. keep this on the warm side.

you of course need your food dish, water dish and a calcium dish. for the calcium dish your best off using a bottle cap.

then you can go wild with the rest, you may want some fake plastic plants, a few rocks and some wood. dont get wood from outside, because it may have parasites, ive heard you can bake the wood to kill parasites, but your best bet is buying from a petstore.

Generally they need a heating mat & a hide becuase they are very shy reptiles. I find that sand is better for use in the vivarium because moist sand can help with shedding becuase some can have a little trouble shedding. Keep the viv moist by spraying a fine mist of water in each day.

You can buy a hide from pet shops & buy one big enough for your gecko to feel safe in.

A leopard gecko will need a sandy,heated tank to live in. In this tank you will want to have a place for it to hide or cool off, like a hollow log which can be bought a a pet supply store. It will need a daily supply of live crickets and a water bowl with fresh water in it everyday. As long as you keep the tank clean and give it what it needs it should live for its normal life span!
