  1. The majority of the people in the US are very fond of the Chinese immigrants, most of the Chinese come here legally, normally work hard, are very polite, try to fit in with the locals and make the effort to learn English.  This is not necessarily the case with the Mexicans, a very large part are illegals, they want free medicine, Social Security that they didn't pay in to, live with mostly Mexicans, do not try to fit in, do not learn English and fill up our jails.  This is not the case with Chinese immigrants.

  2. Chinese people tend to be well mannered and respectful. They also come here legally and assimilate which is all that we Americans ask for. I think you will do well here and if you keep working on your English, I see no problem with you being able to restart your career. Best of luck to you!

  3. Immigrants are excellent.

Illegal aliens are very bad and currently, this country is having a great deal of trouble with illegal aliens.

You have a superb future in this country if you come.  Go online and look for a job before you leave!!

And YES... you English is very good, and certainly sufficient to work here.  Trading companies, and companies looking to trade with China, would dearly love to have you working for them.  And don't forget... Americans are over sexed.. don't get chummy with your bosses.  Strictly business!

  4. My wife is Chinese (Taiwan). My wife works for a international shipping company. Because she can speak Chinese, English, Japanese (her best friends mother was Japanese) and Hakka it was a good fit for her. Even with 2 languages Chinese and English you have a chance of working in some type of import/export company. As far as getting along with people, she gets along with everybody but me! Just kidding! With the number of Chinese in America most places are so used to Chinese that you won't even get a second glance. You will be considered just another person. You may run into some prejudice but idiots are usually few and far between. Welcome to th USA and Good Luck!

PS you can usually find a Chinese area in most major cities. San Francisco has three Chinatowns (Cantonese, Mandarin and Taiwanese)

    (downtown, Richmond district and sunset)

  5. I think you will find Americans very tolerant and accepting of any new immigrant to this country. As long as you are here legally and obey and respect our culture and laws you will not have any problems!  Ive always admired the Chinese they seem very smart and very industrious hard working people !  Welcome to the USA and enjoy your life here ! And remember everyone in the USA is an immigrant from another country!

  6. I think if you took the time to learn English a bit better you could do very well as a translator (both written and spoken). The need is becoming greater with all of the importing and the global businesses. The fact that your husband will be American will definitely help in your transition.

  7. I used to  live in hongkong.

    Lantau island Mui Wo

    and moved to Discovery bay

People here seems to like us asian hehehe. so dont worry about it.

yes if u cud speak 2 language is a plus. i personally learned  how to speak spanish .

Theres nothing like our place there.

    But Welcome to america

  8. you do not say whether or not you speak Putongha which would be more useful for you in the USA.Cantonese is not so useful and you will find that although socially you will be accepted ,it will be very different in the workplace. You will be competing for jobs with people whose english skills are much better.Your work life will not be as fulfilling as in HK but best of luck anyway
