  1. Standard uniform involves boarding shorts (any colour/style) and a shirt clearly identifying the individual as a lifeguard - good both for public relations and emergencies.

  2. It depends on where u r i guess. The lifeguards in australia wear shirts sumtimes and shorts but sum wear speedos lol sxc

    =]

  3. I think this varies a lot by location and weather conditions.

Most wear some kind of uniform and speedos would be very unusual - at least while they are on duty.

Red shorts are pretty common and some kind of t-shirt is usually a part of the uniform.  But that doesn't mean they always wear those shirts.  Lots of life guards go shirtless at the pools where I swim.

  4. You dont really have a choice. The pool/beach will inform you of what you can wear. You never wear speedos. Lifeguards can only wear red, orange, and green bathing suits, although red is the most common. The suit goes just above the knees and its like a normal suit. It is your choice most of the time if you want to be shirtless or not.

  5. Typically they wear bright orange bathing trunks - usually shorts length, not 'nuthuggers.'  Depending on the dress code, weather, and personal preference they might be shirtless or have identifying T-shirts.  If in doubt, ask the employer or supervisor.

  6. generaly the bottoms are boardshorts.  depending if you are working out side, you can choose to go "topless" however if you go w/o a shirt make sure you have on at least SPF 50

  7. It depends on where you are, but at all the beaches/pools around me, they usually wear swim trunks (shorts) and a T-shirt or muscle shirt.

  8. Most of the male lifeguards at my pool wear their jammers underneath their lifeguard swim trunks, and most of them wear their lifeguard t-shirt while sitting in the lifeguard chair, but if they are standing in the water (like when they are patrolling the slide) then they just wear their bottoms and take their shirts off so they can stay warm after they get out. Our pool has a lifeguard uniform that they wear, most pools will have rules on what you are and aren't allowed to wear.
