What do marathon runners do in races when they want to pee?

one of my track friends said that during long races if they have to go they have no choice but to pee themselves so i can only assume its the same for marathon runners

Most people do not have to urinate during a marathon; you perspire away all the fluids and they never hit your bladder.  So elite runners either never have to go or they hold it in.  For slower runners, most marathons have porta potties every 4 miles.  I'm pretty slow, and I've only gone to the bathroom once, during three marathons.
