What do mosquitoes dine on when people are not available ?

Buddy, mosquitos don't only dine on humans.  And lets get one thing straight, only FEMALES suck mammal's blood.  Males actually drink nectar.  Mosquitos will suck the blood of any warm blooded animal that walks into them,  which will also almost always be near a body of water (anything bigger than a puddle).

That's a d**n good question. Only the female mosquito bites. They need blood for production of their eggs. I suppose they pick on livestock and birds if they can't find any people. Too bad Noah didn't swat one of them!!! Maybe Doc Brown needs to use the Delorean one more time!!!

Mosquitoes mostly eat necter.  Only females who are getting ready to lay eggs need a blood meal.  Any blood will do, not just the blood of mammals, they readily go after reptiles too.
