  1. I'm a strong proponent of the "yours, mine and ours" when it comes to financial matters.  So he will have his own (funded by his bonuses and allowances; from this fund our vacation and entertainment expenses will be drawn).  Then I will have my own (where my entire paycheck goes and which I can spend without reporting).  And then there's the joint account (where all his paycheck goes and from where all household expenses are drawn).

Oh yes, that's the way it's gonna be.

  2. We have a joint account. I do the depositing, she does the withdrawals. Fair, isn't it?

  3. My parents have joint accounts.

But I think I'd prefer separate.

  4. I think it is a matter of choice.

    We prefer separate bank accounts.

In this way both of us can build up good records and feel in control of our savings etc. We still handle all of the normal household finances together and will save together for things like holidays etc. There is no secrecy and we discuss our finances openly and work together towards saving for our retirement. We have one file for our bank statements and will reconcile it together.

  5. We have a joint account together for the bills that we share... Rent, grocery..etc.

but at the same time, we have individual accounts as well to keep our own money...

    it saves us arguments. ;p

  6. Separate. Money is too precious now.

  7. Joint accounts

  8. Joint account to show there together.

  9. If you're married...joint accounts would be fine. Even if you separate...there would be a legal way to equally divide what you have.

If you're just bf/gf...it'll depend on the couple's decision if they want to have joint accounts but I wouldn't suggest it. If you separate...its difficult to divide especially if the other party is not willing to share. You'll end up regretting after you don't get your rightful share.

Believe me... Anabelle P knows it. Done that before...

  10. we have a joint account. but we're planning of opening up my own bank account to build my credit.

  11. Joint account and individual accounts.

  12. Joint Bank account

  13. Me and my husband have separate bank accounts. I think it doesn't matter if it is join or separate. I wouldn't mind if we eventually get a joint account.

  14. We've always had a joint account. If marriage vows count, and the two become one, then they ought to act as one. I counsel all my prospects for marriage about this unity. that it's no longer I, and mine, but it's we, and ours. That is a very strong point for marital unity and success.

  15. separate
