What do our soldiers need in Iraq?

Son is at Balad. I want to mail pkgs. What are some of the things they need?

There's a website called anymarine.com and you can see what the people over there have requested when they get care packages.  Most of them are really simple inexpensive items, baby wipes, chap stick, books, hand sanitizer, beef jerky, magazines. Things like that and snacks that won't spoil or melt easily because of the heat.

Mostly they need our support and thanks.

They need us to support their mission so they can finish the job.

That or get a job there earning 6 figures as a war profiteer.

Food! real food, my hubby is ALWAYS complaining about how the food over there sucks. mine has a microwave, so see if you son has a microwave. good luck. and just keep the letters going. they live for mail

I always wanted good ole American cigarettes but I guess you don't want to send your son that.

The mother of a guy I was with always sent him new DVD releases.  Yeah, your son can get bootlegs but the quality of the ones you send would make it worthwhile.

Balad is like a vacation compared to the rest of Iraq with the swimming pool, food courts, MWR centers, and buses.  The only big problem there is the rocket and mortar attacks.  The PX will have pretty much everything he needs since it is a major air base and gets supplies bought in from Kuwait and Germany, so you would have to ask him in an e-mail what he wants.  You can send candy and movies to him if that is what he likes.

Since that will not happen, homemade food.  Preferably durable stuff that travels well, and does not spoil.
