  1. Most people will either bury or cremate their pet, some people choose to have them stuffed by a taxidermist.

My pets have all been buried, but I've only had goldfish and rabbits!

  2. After the pet dies or after the person dies? When a pet dies most people bury it. When the owner dies the pet is usually given to a friend, family member, or a shelter. Some people include pets in their wills so that they know it won't just be given away.

  3. I don't know about other people, but personally I bury all my dead pets...not that I got a huge pet cemetary in my backyard or anything :P

  4. I had a friend who owned many, many pets. She would bury them in the backyard, with a little home-made tombstone on top. When her 16-year-old golden retriever died, she had a little ceremony and everything. I think she still really misses that dog, even though it's been over a year.

  5. I flush my dead fish down the toilet.

For bigger animals I usually bury and put painted stone or cross there.

I don't know if i answered your question because it could be taken two ways...

But if people die before their pet one of their family members or friend or neighbor might take it. If that person had a will, the animal would go to the person that the animal was designated to go. If no one wanted the animal they might put up posters for the animal or put it in an animal shelter.
