Easiest to cook is fried rice but there's lots of variations.     - spicy, with seafood, black etc etc etc

During WW2, basically people in the villages is doing quite OK as there's lots of food surrounding the village such as corn, sweet potato, yams and also all sorts of young plant shoots. The problem is for the townie as the are scarcity of sustaining foods and most had to eat gruel (rice with plenty of water) and flavoured with soya.

Rice is cooked in rice cooker. 1 portion rice to 1 water. Once rice is cooked then u can convert it to something else like fried rice.

    Hope it helps.

  7. boiled sweet potatoes and tapioca were staples during WW2, because they could be easily grown in the garden and filled one up. however over-consumption of these would lead to swelling (can't remember the reason why). Rice is an asian staple, depending on your ethnic group, it would be cooked in different ways. malaysia has three main ethnicities, Malays, Indians and Chinese. Rice would be boiled first. Nasi Lemak which is rice cooked with coconut milk is eaten by the Malays (Nasi = rice), this is eaten with a variety of side dishes, e.g. fried ikan bilis (tiny fish), omelette, bagadil (fried potato cake) and sambal (a kind of chilli). There is a wide variety of chinese food eaten in Malaysia, all kinds of noodles and stuff. (penang laksa..yum, hor fun, fried noodles etc)  Indians do their curries and pratas and chappatis and dhal etc. There really is a wide variety of food consumed in Malaysia!

oh, and you fry stuff in a wok. so yeah, if you're frying rice, you do it in a wok.
