What do people expect to find in a rural northern irish public house?

What should a public house(pub/bar) have?

Or is it a place where people come to talk and here something new to lift their thoughts form every day mundane things

out side of the type of drink it would be like any rural tavern in the states -  group of hardworking folks laughing and discussing the weather crops animals and some one breaking into a song once in a while!!!
